I may be the only one, but I think going to the Olympics is a pretty silly idea. Recently at work we had an email asking if anyone happened to be traveling to China this summer to see the Olympic games. I think it’s a generational type thing, because I just don’t feel that many in my generation have an interest in the Olympics. Think about it for a second, you’re going to take your vacation time, to spend lots of money to travel to a far away country which will be ridiculously crowded with people from all over the world, in order to view maybe a handful of events, where people from your country whom you have never heard of will compete in sports that really aren’t that popular.
What?!? I don’t think so. The only way I can see it happening is if you happen to want to take a vacation (in China this year for example) in the country hosting the games. Then again, that country is going to be way more crowded than normal due to the games (as if China didn’t have enough people already!). Seriously though, can someone make a good argument for why I would spend thousands for such an event? Aren’t there thousands of other cheaper opportunities which would be better? Couldn’t you just wait till they have the games in our country again?

On and off for the past year or so, I have been re-amazed with breakdancing. Yes, I say “re-amazed” because it was once something that I tried to teach myself when I was young (and when the first breakdance craze broke out). First of all, you must know that I love dance and I […]

Next week marks another stop on the milefive reunion tour. We’re playing at a youth camp called Super Summer at Cedarville University. It should be a good time, and I haven’t been to Cedarville in quite a few years. Everytime we do one of these camps I think it might be the […]

If you’ve never seen or heard of automatic Mario before, brace yourself! Automatic Mario makes use of emulation tools to create a custom Mario level where the player does not need to do anything for Mario to move around and complete the level. It is done by placing the objects inside the level […]

I’ve been thinking recently about what constitutes a “good” sermon? Often I find myself falling old habits of deciding that a sermon I hear is good based upon whether I enjoyed it or not. In truth, this is quite the wrong way to think. If I used this criteria to classify sermons…then really the best […]

Happy Easter everyone! Allow me to leave you all with some Easter questions to ponder.
1) Do you think Jesus came out of the tomb before, during, or after the sun had risen?
2) Do you think He moved the stone all by himself? Did he push it aside using super strength? Or hands-off jedi style?
3) Do […]

My sincerest apologies for being “off the air” for so long with respect to blog updates. It is quite interesting to me how our culture’s use and views of blogs (as well as my own) have changed in the 4-5 years it has been around. Blogs are used for so many purposes everywhere now, instead […]

We have been out and about for the past few weeks. Here are some general news updates.
A couple weekends ago, I had another mile5 youth camp at Seneca Lake. This was the first winter camp we were playing. Tiffany was actually able to come this time, in fact, all the spouses/girlfriends/children were able to come […]

In the Dayton area, WCDR radio 90.3FM is home to what is probably the best Christian radio station in the area. Among the many good programs they broadcast daily is Money Matters, a half-hour segment sponsored by Crown Financial Ministries. The segment talks about different money and finance related topics, as well as […]

The title is a double entendre. On New Year’s Eve we saw a preview for season 4 of the TV show Lost. I would love to say that it has been a long time since the last episode of Lost due to the on-going writer’s strike. Sadly, that is not the case. Instead, after […]
